I don't do small.....

but I have been following a blog by Victoria Findlay Wolfe called 15 minutes of play. and was inspired by her Miniature Challenge to have a go. Victoria advocates just 'playing' for 15 minutes each day with small scraps of fabric too make larger pieces which are then cut and re pieced in blocks, this challenge was to use the teeny-est bits of fabric from your scrap bag to see if you could make a really small quilt and I thought let's have a go! This is the result of several 15 minutes sessions. I made some fabric and cut it into 2" squares to make 9 squares
which I sashed together using 1" strips from the scrap bag, and its only 8" square!!!! The colours are not good here but I will try to get a better photo later when its finished.

My 15 minutes playing today found me with 2 objectives in mind i.e. making the backing for it from some wider strips randomly pieced
and practicing some Free Motion quilting in an effort to make me use my machine for something other than straight line quilting.

I'm hoping to add a continuous binding but can't decide on the colour, so I have spent some time looking through my strippy scraps. My other stitching foray today involved finishing my first Christmas project for 2014 by completing the Redwork mini hanging I started with Sadie Yeomans of Cornerhouse Crafts (sorry can't find a link to her) at Malvern during the Autumn show.
To finish up here is the next batch of Charity Quilts made by members of Severn Valley Quilters, all 20 of which are due to be on show at our Exhibition on 20th & 21st February at The Methodist Hall, Castle Court Thornbury

Well that's all for today so be back soon.
